Minister Mariana Alvarez Rodríguez
Minister Mariana Alvarez Rodríguez is the Deputy Head of the Embassy.
She is a career diplomat. She joined the Institute of Foreign Service of the Nation (ISEN) of the Argentine Foreign Ministry in 2001.
Between 2013 and 2016 she worked at the Directorate of South America of the Argentine Foreign Ministry, dealing with the relationship with Chile. From 2008 to 2013 she worked at the Argentine Embassy in France. From 2005 to 2008 she served in the General Directorate of Environmental Affairs and in the Special Representation for International Environmental Negotiations of the Foreign Ministry. In 2006, she was appointed as a technical expert before the International Court of Justice in the lawsuit filed by Argentina against Uruguay ("Case Concerning Pulp Mills in the Uruguay River"). Between 2004 and 2005 she worked in the General Directorate of Malvinas and South Atlantic Islands of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
She has a degree in International Relations from Universidad del Salvador, where she graduated in 2000. She has taught "Introduction to the Theory of International Relations" at the Faculty of Social Sciences of Universidad del Salvador. She was professor of "Theory and Diplomatic Practice" in the same institution.
