Who are we?

HE Ambassador María Belén Bogado

Ambassador Maria Belén Bogado is a career diplomat.

She served as Director General of International Cooperation at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, International Trade and Worship of the Argentine Republic from 2019 to 2020, in charge of technical cooperation in bilateral and multilateral fields.

She was also Chair of the Intergovernmental Council of the Ibero-American Programme for the Strengthening of South-South Cooperation (Programa Iberoamericano para el Fortalecimiento de la Cooperación Sur-Sur, PIFCCS). 

Ambassador Bogado has served also as Deputy Director of the National Directorate of Multilateral Economic Relations.

Abroad, she served from 2006 to 2015 at the Argentine Embassy to the Kingdom of Spain. Since 2011 she was Deputy Head of Mission at the aforementioned Embassy.

She began her diplomatic career in 2003 in the Directorate of International Organizations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, International Trade and Worship.

She has a Master's degree in International Relations from the Complutense University of Madrid and a degree in International Relations from the National University of Rosario.

Ambassador Bogado is married and has two children with her wife, Mariela Ghiggi.


Minister Mariana Alvarez Rodríguez

Minister Mariana Alvarez Rodríguez is the Deputy Head of the Embassy.

She is a career diplomat. Ms Alvarez Rodríguez started her two years postgraduate studies to become a diplomat at the Argentine Institute of the National Foreign Service of the Argentine Foreign Ministry in 2001.

Between 2013 and 2016 she worked in the South American Division of the Argentine Foreign Ministry, in charge of the team that dealt with the relationship with Chile. From 2008 to 2013 she was assigned to the Argentine Embassy in France. From 2005 to 2008, she served in the General Division of Environmental Affairs and in the Special Representation for International Environmental Negotiations of the Foreign Ministry, in charge of climate change and ozone matters. In 2006 she was a technical expert before the International Court of Justice in the lawsuit filed by Argentina against Uruguay ("Case concerning the Pulp Mills on the Uruguay River"). Between 2004 and 2005 she served at the General Division of the Malvinas and South Atlantic Islands of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade.

She has a degree in International Relations from “Universidad del Salvador” (2000). She taught "Introduction to the Theory of International Relations" at the Faculty of Social Sciences of the aforementioned University. She was professor of "Diplomatic Theory and Practice" at the same institution.

In September 2020 the Ibero-American Diplomatic Archives Network (“Red de Archivos Iberoamericanos”) granted her a prize for her work “The role of Argentine consuls and diplomats in France in assisting and protecting Greek citizens during World War II".
